I am a lover of quotes. I pore over Pinterest boards dedicated to them, I carefully save every quote I've read and loved in a book, and I have a notebook full of quotes from my most beloved (or hated) professors. Maybe I'm just a lover of words (as an English degree earner writing to you now, that may be the case). I am heightened by their ability to cut to the quick and make me introspectively question every belief I've ever held while also affirming all the qualms that make me human and flawed and real. While I was in the midst of one of the aforementioned Pinterest searching, I stumbled upon a quote by Elizabeth Gilbert,
"Stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone ought to be." Suddenly I stopped in my tracks. Surely I'm not the only one guilty of doing this, though I've never thought of it in such transparent terms as these. I have lately been wishing for more time, which is arguably the silliest of all wishes. More time to blog, more time with my husband, more time with friends, to spend with my brother, my father, the list is endless. Since my wishbone has yet to answer my request, I'll now be utilizing my backbone to take it from a plea to a priority. I will make more time for what matters, because that is what change requires. I love this wishbone necklace, and am happy to wear it on my chest as a reminder to leave it right there and instead make greater use of my backbone. Happy Saturday, friends. Get used to seeing a lot more from me. Love, Ashley

This morning felt like the real kind of Fall.I threw on chunkier layers than I'd initially planned, bribed a fantastic friend with a donut and some coffee, and carved out a little bit of our morning to document the best of all seasons. My herringbone jacket is from TJ Maxx, and is my favorite because of the classic cut AND short enough sleeve length to fit these T-Rex arms! My black slit skinnies are DIY'd by yours truly, but their original twins are still available at DCB! They are THE softest skinnies in the land, and are very much worth the price. Use code DAINTY20 for 20% off sitewide if you check them out! My Chelsea booties are from Aldo, and are my babies. I wear them with e v e r y t h i n g. My olive turtleneck sweater is also from Dottie, and I love the detailing in the knit! As a girl with {too} many sweaters, the difference is in the details.
Happy Friday, fam bam.
Love, Ashley If you have ever (and I mean EVER) read anything I've written, you'll know there is little more I love in life than cozy knits and fall mornings. This post contains both soooo lemme tell you I'm not sitting on regular old cement in the above photo...I'm on cloud nine. This sweater from Maude is the most perfect I've found this season. I've been on quite the hunt for sweaters, and I'm obsessed with the ever so slightly cropped fit of this beauty! Layering sweaters over skirts and dresses is basically my trademark, and I hope it never goes out of whatever style rules my compass follows (if there is such). The detailing on this dress (also from Shop Maude!) is darling, and makes for a nice mix of textures when paired with this wonderfully chunky sweater. The velvety sheen on my over the knee boots calms down the texture overall while still complementing both pieces on top. Was your Sunday all you hoped it'd be? If not, the next will be here in approximately .5 seconds...these weeks are redefining "breakneck pace" I swear.
I'll talk to you soon! Love, Ashley It's a rarity for me to welcome new jewelry into my small but carefully curated collection. I've always had an obsession with clothes but jewelry is typically my last thought, if I have time and don't forget, type of thing for me. September has always been my favorite. I thought it would always be my favorite. NOPE. September 2016 was a month-long catastrophe. Luckily, I had some pretty cool collab opportunities come my way. I found Not Perfect Linen and fell madly in love with the simple lines, exceptional quality, and family-oriented company. They are a family out of Lithuania who work together to make, dye, and sew each piece they sell. They are exceptional at what they do, and also offer fantastic customer service. The quality and the care taken with each piece is apparent from the second you touch the fabric. I know that these pieces will not fall apart, and the classic and simplistic design won't fall out of fashion.
I was elated to find it good as new when I got home. Tears almost happened. You can also machine wash veryyyy gently but I prefer to be overprotective with these clothes. This gorgeous green dress comes equipped with my all-time favorite loose silhouette and...POCKETS! Let's just let that sink in a moment. In their product descriptions, they encourage customers not to fixate on size. I prefer my clothes oversized anyway, but it's amazing how the size doesn't really matter too much here. The clothes fit exactly the way the makers mean them to. I love every single piece from this unique company, but I loved working with the family even more. It brought me some peace during this insane time of my life, realizing that my life is not supposed to be any more perfect than linen <3
You can find them on Etsy at Not Perfect Linen or on Instagram @notperfectlinen Thanks for hanging in, friends! Love, Ashley |
