Happy Halloween, everyone! We're justttt about finished with my least favorite holiday in all of the world. My signature stick in the mud self does not play well with costumes or the unoriginal million who choose to dress up as "slut" year after year...at least sprinkle some originality in there somewhere. I'm all for equality, but also for modesty. In lieu of celebrating traditionally, I decided to spend my Halloween in my favorite fashion: with Dale Jarrett. My brother recently let me borrow an old camera to play around with, so my sweet dad and I took her out for a try! He is less amateur a photographer than I am a model, but let me just say that neither of us are too confident in our ability quite yet. I realized after we were done taking photos that I failed to keep our objective in mind, which is of course to feature the outfit...but here is what I wore! My distressed skinnies are from Dottie. I love how they get a little more torn up with each wear, so that my legs less resemble a busted can of biscuits in them. This super soft light grey shirt is also from Dottie, and is one of my favorite basics! My blush cardi is from TJ Maxx and even though she's only a week old, I can tell she's going to be a go-to this year! My black Chelsea booties are from Aldo, and I have been loving them this fall! It took me a hot minute to figure out how to style them until I figured out that I was trying too hard. Now I just wear them with everything and it's working out pretty well for me. I tried a new no-heat wet to dry hairstyle last night, and I'm pretty impressed with how it turned out! I let it air dry for ten minutes or so after my shower, and then ran a Fekkai styling balm through the ends. After that I twisted it into a loose bun on top of my head and secured loosely with hair pins so that no bobbi pin lines are left once it's dry. In the morning I shook out my hair which had already fallen out of it's bun when my husband pushed me off the bed, and sprayed with Spray and Play all over! My day with Dale was exactly the therapy it always is, but my favorite part of today was when we were splitting a sandwich at Potbelly downtown. While we were sitting inside, a jovial young man came in, ordered a sandwich, and briskly walked outside, where he handed it to the elderly homeless man sitting outside. It is such a small thing to do and yet I've never seen anything more endearing. A little extra kindness is always such a gift to witness, and I am so inspired to do that next time I'm downtown. I'm dying to hear how your Halloween went! Leave any questions or comments down below, I miss hearing from you all! I promise I'll be back sooner rather than later, see you then! Love, Ashley

Photos by Sarah Knuth My love for olive is surely no secret by now, and believe you me I am doing my damnedest to sneak it into every outfit I put together. I finally found a pair of boots with an olive accent, but those are in a blog yet to come! The olive I've fallen head over heels with in this post is in my newest pant obsession--these joggers!
I usually wouldn't pair two different greens together like this, but I like how subtle the hue is in the shirt (TJ Maxx) versus the deep olive, so I put it together anyway. My dad always thinks my shirts are coming untucked when I wear them this way, but I love the look it gives my outfits! Slightly disheveled suits me.
I found this light beige beanie at Edinburgh Outlet's Aeropostale for $10 and I am so excited to add it to my outwear wardrobe! I have a veritable collection of hats but not many are neutral in color! I love the soft and fuzzy texture on this as well, it's definitely a new favorite of mine. I hope this post gives you a little olive-inspo of your own, and if so you should tag me in any pics so I can see how you wore it!
Happy Fall! Love, Ashley |
