Today was our first full day on Amelia Island, and it was incredible! The beach here is so secluded that I don't feel claustrophobic in the slightest, which is a must for me to enjoy any amount of time on the beach. Evan was feeling under the weather today so Momma Holly and I spent the entire day in the sun! Evan's cousin Chad came over this afternoon and we even got to have dinner with him too! After that we drove around the island until we found the prettiest dock over which the sun was setting...and how could I pass up that opportunity?
To be honest, I completely forgot it was St. Patrick's Day! I wore this green romper($10 on clearance, Marshall's) to dinner because I bought it in the middle of December and have been dying to wear it ever since.
The open back is perfect for a pretty bandeau or bralette ($22), like my new favorite from Dottie. The blush option was a must for my wardrobe because it beautifully complements the pieces I have that my bolder bralettes detract from.
My cognac gladiator sandals($20) are from TJ Maxx, and they are so comfortable! The strappy/buckled look has always been a favorite of mine, and I hope it never goes out of style!
The newest addition to my makeup routine is the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in "Soft and Gentle". I love it because it gives me a soft glow without making me look like a ridiculous disco ball...like the sales associate in MAC managed to do. My face makeup is kept to blush (always) and concealer (when necessary), so it's a big deal for me to add anything, but this product is amazing!
My rose gold Kate Spade cross body is one of my favorites, and has been a nice break from the humongous bag I've been favoring lately.
I've enjoyed my island vacation so far, and I can't wait to see what else it has in store for me! I've managed to avoid any burning so far, but the week is young...cross your fingers for me!
Thrifting and Dottie Couture.
Two of my very favorite things ^. As these are two favorites, I found combining them resulted in one of my favorite outfits! Since we are finally in a transition period, I try my best to mix spring pieces with the winter pieces necessary to hold off the frostbite.
My chambray shirt ($42) is from Dottie and is one of my wardrobe staples. I like to wear it tucked into skirts like this, unbuttoned over tank tops, and sometimes under light sweaters! My scarf ($12) is also from Dottie, and nicely complements the lighter beige in my skirt. I love the lace detail around the edge of the scarf because I think it's a sweet detail while still being subtle.
My dark red lip ($26) is the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in "Cruella", and I love the color payoff but it really dried out in about an hour...not one I'd recommend!

This week has been a crazy one. "Crazy" is usually my favorite type of week, but I sure wish this particular one would slow down and take its time. I leave for vacation on Sunday morning and I'm simultaneously excited and filled with dread. I know that the store is not my own, but I invest so much of my time and love into it and the girls that I will worry when I'm away! I am, however, very excited to spend some time in the sun and to maybe actually read an entire book for the first time in far too long. I'm darn near narcoleptic at this point, if I sit down I am sure to be asleep within a few minutes, and who reads standing up? I can't wait to fix the sleep-deprivation, blog more than once in a week, and spend some time with my amazing second family.
As for now, I'm off to pack. And by pack I of course mean scroll Instagram and continue my Game of Thrones marathon while throwing a reluctant glance toward my closet every so often.
This Saturday was quite a busy one! It was my second braid day for Dottie Couture, this one held at the new Fishers location! I wanted to wear something comfy and cute...just like every other day of my life, let's be honest. I also wanted to incorporate my happy color, which is the same color around which I've designed this page. My light purple tank is from Target, and it's an old favorite! Target is my go-to for basic tanks of all lengths and colors, they're so affordable and the options are basically endless. The lace tank I've layered over it is also from Target($24.99) and is still available! I love this kind of top for putting under cropped sweaters as well as over tanks so there was basically no way I could walk away without this baby. My necklace is the reversible tassel necklace from Dottie Couture ($18), and I find a way to wear it with basically everything! The other side is light pink, and I absolutely love this one with an assortment of looks.
I tend to keep the rest of my accessories to a bare minimum. My wedding ring will always be my favorite piece of jewelry, but I'm also strongly attached to my other 4 staple pieces. My rose gold Michael Kors watch is the Slim Runway from Nordstrom, and my Pandora monogram charm bracelet was a gift from Evan on our wedding day.
Not pictured are my diamond studs (one of which I am bound to lose sooner or later) and the Tiffany infinity ring I wear on my right ring finger.
These TOMS boots are my absolute favorite! They are the olive synthetic leather alpa boots, and they are a dream. I stalked these stupid (but so worth it) things for two months before I finally found them in my size! Size 5's are getting harder to find, and I'm pretty sure Evan has somehow conspired with the shoemakers of the world to keep new ones out of my closet...but he hasn't succeeded yet and thank goodness for that.
So many of my days are consumed by work (which I love), driving to and from work (which I loathe), and laundry (there's no way I need to say into which category this one falls). With what little free time I have, I will be documenting the good and bad parts of all my days, but most importantly I will write about the days I look, feel, and do my best-
the dainty ones.
Behind the dainty days is a whole lot of planning. And coffee.
